Overview:
Pleiospilos nelii, commonly known as Split Rock, is a fascinating succulent with thick, stone-like paired leaves that resemble cracked rocks. Its mottled grey-green surface helps it blend into its natural environment, making it one of the most unusual and eye-catching succulents available.
Compact and slow growing, this plant is highly prized by collectors and succulent enthusiasts. When mature and grown in the right conditions, it may produce a striking daisy-like flower in shades of yellow, orange, or pink.
Care and Growth:
Pleiospilos nelii prefers bright light and will tolerate direct sunlight once gradually acclimatised. A sunny windowsill is ideal. Too little light may cause stretching and loss of its compact form.
Water very sparingly using a strict “soak and dry” method. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again, and reduce watering significantly during winter. Overwatering is the most common cause of failure and can quickly lead to rot.
