Scientific Name:
Cryptanthus ‘Strawberries Flambe’
Overview:
Cryptanthus Strawberry Flambee is a compact terrestrial bromeliad grown mainly for its striking star-shaped foliage. Its narrow, pointed leaves form a low rosette with a mix of strawberry-red, pink, green, and chartreuse tones. The colour is strongest when the plant is kept in good bright, indirect light, making it a standout choice for indoor plant displays, terrariums, and plant cabinets.
This variety stays close to the pot and can gradually produce offsets around the parent plant, creating a fuller clustered look over time. It is best grown as an indoor foliage plant in warm, stable conditions with good humidity and an open, free-draining potting mix. The cultivar is listed as a Jim Irvin hybrid of Cryptanthus ‘Diverse Pink’ × ‘Cascade’.
Care Level:
Easy to Moderate
Lighting Requirements:
Place in bright, indirect light or bright filtered light. Good light helps maintain strong colour, but avoid harsh direct midday sun, which may scorch or fade the foliage.
Watering:
Keep the potting mix lightly moist during active growth, allowing the upper layer to dry slightly before watering again. Do not leave the plant sitting in water, and avoid allowing water to remain in the central rosette for long periods, as this may lead to rot. Reduce watering slightly during cooler months.
Placement Tips:
